The Anambra State Council of the Nigerian Legion, has reached out to the Anambra Broadcasting Service for partnership in preparation for the upcoming 2023 Nigerian Legion Day scheduled for Saturday this week.
The State Commandant and Chaiman of the Council, Chief Ben Ezeagbogu disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the council’s executive members to the ABS Managing Director, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, in Awka.
The chairman said that the event will among other things provide support and empowerment to military widows who lost their husbands while serving the nation.
The chairman expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his consistent support to the council and also extended appreciation to Sir Chido for his warm reception.
Responding , Sir Chido promised his support for the initiative and commended the council’s dedication to empowering widows despite their modest incomes and proposed the inclusion of empowerment programs for widowers within the legion who might be facing hardships.
Sir Chido reiterated Governor Soludo’s commitment to inclusive governance , ensuring that everyone, especially the vulnerable and downtrodden in the society are considered in the state’s initiatives, even as he commended them for their service to the nation.
