The Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya has said that henceforth, any association that wishes to partner the state government in the Petroleum and Solid minerals sectors, should get a letter of identification from the bodies, recognized by Petroleum Industry Act 2021.

Barrister Ifeanya gave the order during a meeting with the executive members of the Independent Crude Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (ICOMAN) who came to seek partnership.

While listing Upstream, Downstream and Midstream operations as the bodies recognized by the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, Barrister Ifeanya explained that the reasons for the identification letter are to maintain sanity, decorum and due process in the sector to avoid crisis.

Commissioner Ifeanya, who requested for their Memorandum and Articles of Association which are the legal documents that stated the objectives of their association, which they failed to provide, warned them not to jump into government activities without approval.

Earlier in his speech, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Fabian Onuegbu said that they came to identify with the ministry, register their existence and seek partnership with the state government to ensure that best products are served to the consumers at all times.

Later in a vote of thanks, a member of the association, Mr. Bonny Akunna, while applauding Commissioner Ifeanya for giving them the opportunity to interact with him, promised a harmonious working relationship with the state government if given the opportunity to serve.

The Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Ikechukwu Okafor among other staff of the ministry were present during the meeting.
