The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu has charged Principals to be prudent with the five-thousand-naira school fees approved by the state government for senior secondary school one to three.
The Chairman gave the charge while addressing Principals of Secondary Schools in Anambra State during the PPSSC management meeting with the principals of public and public mission schools held at Catholic Girls’ Secondary School, Ozubulu.
Professor Ikediugwu stressed the need for Principals to adhere to the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directives on free education and warned that the Governor is ready to dismiss any Principal that disobeys the free education policy.
She therefore asked Principals to make budget of how the five thousand for Senior Secondary will be used and send their budget to the Zonal offices to forward to headquarters.
The PPSSC chairman informed the principals that the government has directed each school to form club of patrons that would take up much of the PTA duties and membership will be affluent members of the communities and their number would not exceed fifteen.
The PPSSC Deputy Chairman, Dr. Naomi Samuel in her paper titled “Effective 21st century principal – the outlook of secondary school”, said that personal value is a drive for greater achievements while the Secretary of the PPSSC, Mrs. Benedine Anagor reminded the principals that they are foot soldiers of the PPSSC.
In attendance were the Board Members, Directors from the headquarters, zones among others.
