Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, has extended their warm congratulations to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his decision to rename the Anambra International Passengers and Cargo Airport to a renowned literally icon, Chinụa Achebe

 

In a release signed by the National President of the Association, Barrister Titus Akpudo, the decision of the Governor pays homage to the renowned author’s indelible contributions to literature and the global promotion of Igbo culture, with emphasis that renaming of the airport serves as a testament to the state’s commitment to celebrating its rich cultural heritage and honoring those who have left an enduring mark on society.

 

The Association maintained that Chinụa Achebe, was widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential writers, acknowledging that Governor Soludo’s decision is seen as a fitting tribute to the author’s ability to bridge cultures and inspire generations.

 

The Anambra State Association of Town Unions, a coalition of town unions representing all communities across the state, commended the Governor’s visionary leadership and commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of Anambra.

 

They expressed gratitude for the governor’s decision, stating that it reflects the collective pride of Anambra’s residents and that the renaming is expected to have a positive impact on tourism and cultural exchange within the state.

 

ASATU commended Governor Soludo’s recent announcement of free education and antenatal care for expectant mothers, lauding the initiatives as pivotal steps towards ensuring accessible education and healthcare for all residents.

 

rIt remarked that the implementation of free education signifies a remarkable shift in the state’s educational landscape and that his commitment to this cause demonstrates his understanding of the importance of quality education in fostering social development and economic growth.

 

They added that the provision of free antenatal care for pregnant women showcases his dedication to maternal and child health an initiative expected to significantly reduce maternal mortality rates and improve overall healthcare outcomes for pregnant women in the state.
