The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has said that church of God was instituted for repentance, healing and soul winning.
Most Reverend Ibezim stated this in a sermon at the Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit Awka during his episcopal visit to the church.
Most Reverend Ibezim who is also the Bishop, Diocese of Awka noted that expansion of churches in all the nook and crannies of the societies is to win souls that are perishing, reconciling man back to Christ and give the downtrodden hope of new life in Chris Jesus.
He noted that church must be visionary and engage in the future of the young ones as the Holy Spirit is the owner of the church and when chased away, it becomes a mere place of gathering.
Archbishop Ibezim maintained that parishioners are one family and should live according to the directives of God to become reference point to others while they embark on the core mandate of the church which is spreading the word of God.
Most Reverend Ibezim lamented that people live in fear in the present-day Nigeria, stating that it is the duty of the church to speak good news of Christ to the worshipers, encouraging and giving them hope, charging parishioners of the church to always lay foundation of peace, unity and passion for evangelism.
The Vicar of the church, Venerable Dr Rex Kanu maintained that the gospel of Christ will continue to expand, commending Most Reverend Ibezim for his doggedness and efforts towards the work of evangelism.
