Igwe Benneth Emeka has bagged an honourary doctorate degree award from Paul University, Awka.

 

He received the award during the fourth convocation ceremony and lecture of Paul University, Awka.

Igwe Emeka was accompanied to the event by his wife, Chinwe, children, members of Umueri Royal cabinet, Ndi Umueri, traditional rulers, friends and well-wishers.

 

Before conferring the award on Igwe Emeka, his citation was read where some of his contributions towards human and society developments as well as his personal achievements were enumerated.

Responding, Igwe Emeka expressed appreciation to the University for the honour done to him, noting that he has been receiving awards but this one is special to him as it came from an institution of his Christian faith, promising to sustain his support to the institution.

 

Igwe Emeka thanked those who came to stand by him and prayed for God’s blessings on them.

Speaking after the event, the Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba and the Archbishop Province of the Niger and the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim said that the awardees were men that have contributed immensely to both the church and the society, noting that Igwe Emeka has been a blessing to the church and the society urging him to keep the tempo.

 

In their remarks at a reception held in honour of Igwe Emeka at the same venue, the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Mbamili, Right Reverend Obiorah Uzochukwu, wife of the Bishop, Diocese of Niger West, Mrs. Ngozika Ekwe and Archdeacon Umueri Archdeaconry of Diocese of Niger West, Venerable Theophilus Edo described the award as a deserved honour, as Igwe Emeka is a blessing to many.

Some of members of Umueri Royal cabinet, including Chief Sunday Eluemuno, Chiefs Samuel Emeka and Princess Ngozi Okoye thanked God for giving them a personality of Igwe Emeka as their traditional ruler, adding that he has touched many lives and has made Umueri community proud in so many aspects while praying for God’s wisdom and strength on him.

 

Decoration of the Umueri Monarch and dancing of Igba eze by the celebrant and his cabinet members formed the highlights of the reception ceremony.
