Anaocha local government area has celebrated their 2023 Anaocha Festival where all the communities in the council area gathered to display their cultural heritage, and recognize their sons and daughters who has contributed to the development of their communities and local government area.

 

Anaocha Festival 2023 has been held amidst cultural and masquerade displays, beauty pageantry, chieftaincy title taking, award presentation and induction into Anaocha Hall of Fame.

 

It was an annual gathering of entire people of Anaocha to celebrate and appreciate God for his love and protection during the planting season.

 

There was a raffle draw that saw winning life changing prizes including a car, refrigerator, motorcycle and other consolation prizes.

 

The traditional rulers of the communities in Anaocha bestowed Chieftaincy title to some of their illustrious sons who have been very instrumental to the development of the town, others were given awards while many who have made remarkable impact either in leadership, their careers and the development of their local government were inducted into what they called Anaocha Hall of Fame.

 

The Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr Gerald Ozoh in his opening speech said that the annual event has continued to enhance unity and progress of Anaocha and called on other affluent individuals in Anaocha to join hands in the development of their communities, Anaocha and Anambra State at large.

 

The Chairman on the occasion Chief Ikenna Okafor in a remark said that the 2023 ANAFEST is the best since inception and commended the organizers for the job well done.

 

He also thanked Governor Soludo for making the environment peaceful and secured for their people to return for the function and assured that Anaocha will continue to support his good policies.

 

The Member Representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh who was inducted into the Anaocha Hall of Fame, the Member Representing Anaocha Constituency one at the state House of Assembly, Honourable Nkechi Ogbuefi and the Anaocha local government area APGA Chairman, Chief Anthony Ugorji said that celebrating hard work, excellence and individual contributions to the growth of the society will encourage others to key in, adding that ANAFEST has always been a ground for display of Anaocha rich cultural heritage.

 

To climax the event many illustrious sons and daughters of Anaocha both living and dead who made significant impact to the development of the town and also distinguished themselves in their field of endeavors were inducted into the Anaocha Hall of Fame including the Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, Bishop of Nnewi Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Late Dora Akunyili, Late Mike Okpara, Late Chief Anthony Enukaeme among others.

 

Member Representing Anaocha Constituency two, Honourable Ejike Okechukwu, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike and many others were also awarded Chieftaincy titles by the council of traditional rulers in Anaocha local government area while the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Charles Esimone, Chief Innocent Chiekezie and many other dignitaries attended the event held at Anaocha local government field, Neni.
