Parishioners of St. Michael De Arch-Angel Parish Ogbunike in Oyi Council Area of the state, over the weekend received the Pioneer Bishop of Aguleri Diocese, who is also their illustrious Son, Most Reverend Dennis Chidi Isizoh who paid a maiden Pastoral visit to Osile Village Ogbunike.
ABS correspondent Festus Obierika who worshipped at the church reports that the church was filled to capacity as the parishioners, Ogbunike indigenes both home and in Diaspora, friends of the Bishop and his peer groups including the Vicar General Aguleri Diocese, Monsignor Nicolas Akwanya among other priests were in attendance.
Delivering a homily to mark the visit, Bishop Isizoh whose homily centered on the need for Christians to demonstrate their virtues as disciples of Jesus Christ, called on parishioners and friends to always embrace Christ in whatever they do, emphasized the need for prayers, stating that with God, all things are possible for mankind, stressing the importance of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Bishop Isizoh thanked the people and the parishioners for their doggedness in moving the town forward and urged them to always hope and believe in God who is the beginning and the end of all things and thanked the outgoing Parish Priest Very Reverend Father Innocent Egbunike who according to him has been appointed the Chancellor of the Diocese and appealed for their support towards him.
The Catholic Prelate during the visit administered the sacrament of confirmation to over one hundred candidates, encouraging them to be rooted in things of God as well as go for confession and attend morning masses as well as defend their faith where ever they may be.
Appreciating the Bishop, the outgoing parish priest Very Reverend Father Egbunike thanked Bishop Isizoh for his love for the parish and for appointing him the Chancellor of the Diocese and promised him his loyalty, even as he appreciated parishioners for being supportive.
Adding his voice, the newly appointed Vicar General of the Diocese Monsignor Nicolas Akwanya, and the CMO President General, Mr. Enechukwu Odichi and CMO Counterpart, Mrs. Azuka Isizor urged Christians to always embrace God and do his will stating that the visit has strengthened them spiritually, physically and emotionally and advised those who received the Sacrament of Confirmation to be true soldiers of Jesus Christ.
Some of the candidates including Master Francis Udechukwu and Miss Princess Nnaji said that they have been rooted in the Holy Spirit and promised to be obedient children and thanked their Parish Priest as well as the Bishop for the opportunity given to them.
