Anambra State 2023 New Yam Festival will hold on Saturday October 21, in Awka.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji said the festival will be at Alex Ekwueme Square Awka from nine o’clock in the morning.
The Commissioner said the celebration is part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision to promote and showcase the cultural heritage of the state to the world.
Comrade Onyenji said the event will be hosted by Governor Soludo while the traditional ruler of Onitsha and Chairman Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council Igwe Alfred Achebe will be the Royal Father of the day.
He explained that the event will featured Iwa Ji, cultural displays by all the
twenty one local government areas of the State, traditional wrestling, masquerade displays, local cuisines and other side attractions.
The statement invite all traditional rulers, Presidents General, Ohaneze Ndigbo, cultural organisations, religious bodies, indigenes and non – indigenes to the event.
