Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has said that her healthy living crusade is building strong collaboration with youths in order to achieve greater coverage and make the programme a dominant social culture in the State

Mrs Soludo stated this during the community youth engagement for her non-governmental movement, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, at Idemili South Local Government headquarters, Ojoto.

The essence of the ongoing grassroots engagements is to expand the scope of the programme to involve youths, who will lead the campaign in their respective communities.

Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, a health-based non-political crusade founded by Anambra Governor’s wife, has been engaging critical stakeholders to ensure that the core message of the campaign becomes a household culture in all Anambra homes.

Addressing the youths, Mrs Soludo said that the major aim of the crusade is to promote responsible and healthy lifestyle as a key to livable and prosperous Anambra State, explaining that getting school children involved, she hoped to build an early consciousness of what living healthy means.

The governor’s wife also appealed to Youths to be fully involved in the exercise, with an understanding that they can give the campaign a stronger verve and help to achieve the greater part of its objectives.

Earlier in his speech, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike said that youths are important to the lasting success of the healthy living crusade, noting that a crucial aspect of the engagements is to equip youths with the basic knowledge of the programme including the harmful effects of drug abuse, basic lifesaving skills and how to eat right.

Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South, Mrs Amaka Obi, underscored the importance of health to a productive society, and commended the governor’s wife for taking the crusade directly to youths in the grassroots, and pledged to continue to support the programme by getting more women and youths under the council involved in the process
