Earlier, Team Nibo thrashed Team Okpuno with a lone goal at the same venue, making Team Okpuno the first community to be eliminated from the tournament.
Clad in black jerseys, Team Umuawulu secured their first goal just fifteen minutes into the game, and later extended their lead with a penalty kick during the first half.
Team Amawbia was unfortunate to have missed a penalty kick against Team Umuawulu at about seventy-fifth minute of the second half.
Speaking after winning their match, Team Umuawulu captain, Ifeanyichukwu Okoye, expressed his team’s joy over the victory and said that they would up their performance to remain in the competition and possibly lift the trophy.
Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area Football Council, Chekwube Ofili, expressed satisfaction with officials and team players’ adherence to the rules and regulations guiding the competition, and encouraged other teams to prepare for upcoming matches.
Meanwhile, Team Mbaukwu qualified for the next round of the competition with a walkover after their opponent, Team Ezinator, arrived very late for the encounter.
For communities in Awka North Local Government Area, information from Anambra Central Community Shield Situation Room revealed that Team Mgbakwu won Team Achalla with a lone goal at CKC football pitch, Isuaniocha.
