Anambra State House of Assembly has applauded the top officials of Onitsha North local government area for proper utilization of the revenues generated by the local government in 2022.
The Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Noble Igwe made the commendation when he alongside other members of the Committee, reviewed and verified the audited account of the local government area for the year 2022 at Anambra State House of Assembly complex in Awka.
The Committee observed that the local government council kept their records straight, listed their revenue generation windows, how they generated money and the projects accomplished with it.
It also discovered that the local government council followed Procurement Act in execution of projects and called on other local governments to emulate them.
Addressing the Committee, the Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha North local government area, Mr. Onochie Ozoma appreciated the Committee for discharging their duties without fear or favour, noting that the exercise will go a long way in providing to the public how money generated by State Government and local governments are properly accounted for.
The Onitsha North local government Chairman informed the Committee that his local government is working in line with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo whom he said, is very open in terms of management of Anambra resources.
The Committee reviewed and verified the audited account of Anambra East local government area for the year under review and commended them for keeping their records straight.
The Committee observed that they listed their revenue generation windows and the projects accomplished with it.
In a vote of thanks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East local government area Mr. Anselem Onuorah described members of the Committee as professionals who are very thorough in discharging their oversight responsibility, adding that the exercise will promote transparency, probity and accountability in local government administration.
