The Governor of Rotary International District 9142, Rotarian Ekan Emah, has called for the celebration of those who have contributed immensely to human capital development.

 

Speaking at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka when he led other Rotarians in District 9142; comprising all the states in the Southeast, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States on a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Charles Esimone, Rotarian Emah stressed the need for the people to always assist those in need.

Describing Rotary International as a humanitarian body focused on touching lives, Rotarian Emah, who was accompanied by other officers of Rotary in District 9142, thanked Professor Esimone for his contributions to human capital development, calling for its sustainability.

 

Responding, Professor Esimone, while thanking Rotary International for choosing Professor Austin Nnonyelu as the District Governor-elect for 2024 /2025 Rotary year, reassured Rotary International of his continued support.

He described Anambra State as most hospitable and conducive for business transactions, and called on the people to come and invest in the state in order to create more jobs for the teeming youth populace.

 

Professor Esimone charged affluent individuals to toe the path of Rotary International in improving the living standards of the people.

 

In a vote of thanks, the District Governor-elect, Professor Nnonyelu, who described Rotary International as an organization that is committed to ending all forms of sickness, especially Polio, called for public support towards achieving the set goals of Rotary.

He commended the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Esimone, for being a Rotarian at heart through his support to the staff of the institution, and commended him for being transparent and accountable in piloting the affairs of the institution, urging him to sustain the gesture.

 

Highlight of the visit was the decorations of the Vice Chancellor with Paul Harris pin, among other Rotary decorations.

 

Present during the visit were past Assistant Governors and Assistant Governors of Rotary International, including the Assistant Governor in charge of Zone thirty-eight, Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor; of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS.
