Following the recent declaration of free education policy by the Anambra State government, students population in public schools in the state has increased tremendously.
Speaking on the situation during a monitoring visit to some schools in Onitsha zone, the Chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu charged principals to admit every student that came for admission in their schools.
Describing the gesture as a welcome development, Professor Ikediugwu said that with this, no child would be left behind in receiving the all-inclusive education policy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
The Education boss asked parents and guardians to send their children and wards to school even as she promised that more teachers will be sent to handle the population in the upcoming recruitment.
At Urban Boys’ Secondary School, Onitsha, Prof Ikediugwu met the absence of the principal, Mr. Emmanuel Anaerobi while most of the teachers were seen teaching in the classes.
Professor Ikediugwu also visited Modebelu Memorial Secondary School, Onitsha where she met the Principal, Mrs. Ngozi Anaegboka who was in office and the school was very neat but the teachers were not in the classes to conduct moral instructions except for one Maureen Agbakoba who was seen chasing students to their moral classes.
At Onitsha High School, Onitsha, the principal, Mrs. Nneka Agbasianya was seen in school and most of the teachers were seen teaching in the classes.
The PPSSC Chairman has summoned the principal and teachers that were not seen in their classes to her office for explanation.
