The Acting National Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing worldwide, Maazi Chukwuma Okpalezeukwu has called for a non-kinetic approach on the ongoing efforts to end insecurity and restore a lasting peace to the southeast region of the country.

Maazi Okpalezeukwu disclosed this while answering questions from the newsmen in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that explaining numerous approaches, the Ohaneze Ndigbo youth wing has adopted in ending the insecurity and youth restiveness in the region under his watch, Maazi Okpalezeukwu said that the security challenges in the region have reached a point where they will not reserve any of their arsenals to ensure a lasting peace in the southeast.

The Ohaneze youth leader noted that they have resolved to engage every critical player in the security impassé especially the youths, to ensure that they harmonize all their strength towards achieving the peace everybody yearns for in the region.

He commended the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and his National Working Committee for their resolve that it is time to apply the non-kinetic approach in tackling the insecurity in the region to achieve peace, stability and adequate security.

According to him, they are happy with the demonstration of unity by the southeast governors in taming the insecurity and that the governors have equally agreed that Igbo youths have a critical role to play in the restoration of peace and unity in the region, and that they are looking forward for the actualization of all the promises made to them by the governors.

The Ohaneze youth Leader also commended the establishment of Youth and employment Committee, led by the former Minister of Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige and expressed confidence that through the committee, many Igbo youths will be engaged and empowered out of idleness thereby keeping then busy and unavailable for recruitment into anti-state activities.

Maazi Okpalezeukwu maintained that since youths are prone to violence, it therefore makes them the most viable and efficient tool to control restiveness, violence and insecurity in Igbo land, and warned youths who advocate for no election in the region to desist forthwith, as election is the civic responsibility of the people, even as he prayed for a free, fair and credible election in Imo state come November eleventh, 2023.
