Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo says part of the goals of her healthy living project is to champion strategic nutrition campaign that will tackle growing malnutrition and under-nutrition among children and women in the state.

The Governor’s wife stated this when members of Nutrition Society of Nigeria, NSN, Anambra State Chapter, visited her at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The Nutrition Society of Nigeria is the only and largest gathering of stakeholders in nutrition in Nigeria.

The professional and non-governmental association was founded in 1963 at the University of Ibadan.

Addressing the group, the governor’s wife pointed out that most of the common causes of household sicknesses and deaths are as a result of wrong food choices, with most consumers misinterpreting the overall essence of food.

She said that to correct the ugly trend, all hands must be on deck, explaining that people have to be taught in clear details the benefits of healthy foods.

Mrs. Soludo explained that the reason nutrition comes first on the healthy living pillars is because of how important it is to life and kicking out diseases, and promised to partner with the nutritionists and dietetists to achieve the target of eradicating growing malnutrition in the state.

The Governor’s wife further decried the ravage of deadly diseases in children, and cautioned mothers to capitalize on the nutritional values of vegetables and purely organic food products.

Earlier in her remarks, the President of Nutrition Society of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, Dr. Justina Okoli, said the association has been keeping tabs on the healthy living activities of the Governor’s wife, and how she is systemically pushing her nutrition campaign in the state.

She noted that NSN is open to collaborating with the Governor’s wife’s NGO on achieving related goals, explaining that the project will also require the services of technocrats in the field of nutrition to assist on insights and sustainable components.
