The remains of the Late Chief Chinonso Okoye of Amaeku village in Adazi-Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area, have been laid to rest.
Chinonso, who died at the age of thirty-four was the son of Chief Cyril Okoye, a prominent figure in Anaocha Local Government Area.
his passing was mourned by family, friends, and well-wishers, and the funeral ceremony was attended by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, his wife Nonye, government officials, and individuals from all walks of life.
The requiem mass for the deceased, popularly known as Maazi, took place at All Saints Catholic Church in Adazi-Ani, with Reverend Father Peter Eche officiating.
In a homily, Very Reverend Father Ignatius Onwuatuegwu emphasized that believers, in death, transits to another glory and encouraged the father of the deceased to maintain his faith in God.
In his condolence message, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Barrister Slyvester Ezeokenwa eulogized the late Chinonso Okoye for his passionate commitment to social change advocacy and lauded his vision and dedication to making a positive impact on those around him.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr. Gerald Ozoh expressed gratitude to everyone who showed support and praised Governor Soludo’s developmental efforts in Anaocha and the state, urging the ndị Anambra to join hands in state development.
The deceased brother, Mr. Uche Okoye, remembered him as a kind-hearted individual and expressed deep sense of loss while commending the lasting impact he made in the world, keeping his memory alive in their hearts.
On his part, the Anaocha Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Chief Anthony Ugorzor, highlighted the late Chinonso’s charitable nature, emphasizing his role in assisting those in need and encouraged the family to find solace.
Present at the event were Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly , former Member that represented Njikoka, Anaocha, and Dunukofia at the National Assembly, Honourable Dozie Nwankwo, a one time member of Anambra State House of Assembly Sir Pete Ibida, Commissioner for Health Dr Afam Obidike, his Women Affairs counterpart, Mrs Ify Obinabo, Members representing Anaocha one and two constituencies in the Anambra State House of Assembly Honourable Nkechi Ogbuefi and Sir Ejike Okechukwu respectively Traditional rulers , captains of Industry among others
The deceased, survived by his father, brothers, wife, and child, was laid to rest in his father’s compound.
