Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency says it will continue to partner Rotary International in the fight against Polio and other child killer diseases.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Pharmacist Chisom Uchem gave the assurance in Awka during a special edition of ABS Radio audience participatory Programme Nzuko Anambra.
The programme which centered on the 2023 World Polio Day aimed at sensitizing the people on the need to ensure that their children under the age of Five get immunized against Poliomyelitis in order to secure their future.
Pharmacist Uchem who said that the government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo places high premium on Health, charged parents to take advantage of the facilities provided in various primary Health Care centers across the state for a healthy living.
Contributing, the pioneer District Governor of Rotary International district 9142, Dr Emman Udeakpe who said that the Polio vaccination is free of cost, called on parents to ensure that their children receive the oral Polio vaccine to ensure its reduction to zero in the world.
Dr Udeakpe disclosed that Rotary with its partners have paid for all the vaccines against Polio saying that the vaccine is safe.
The State Immunization Officer Mrs Edith Onwuka who maintained that Health is wealth, thanked the World Health Organization, WHO and Rotary International for their efforts in ensuring a healthy and livable society and urged them to sustain the gains.
Some callers on the programme including Ezeafulukwe from Ihiala thanked Rotary for their efforts.
Anambra State will upscale the Immunization against Polio from November 11 to 14 in all the communities, schools, churches and playgrounds.
