In a bid to solidify Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda on clean and green environment through waste recycling, Anambra State Ministry of Environment led by its Commissioner, Dr Felix Odimegwu has started inspection of recycling companies in Anambra State to elicit interest and partnership.

 

The result of Governor Soludo’s giant strides in the environmental sector has had great testimonies including the conversion of waste to wealth through the impact of various programmes held in the state including the positive outcome of Anambra State Plastic Waste Sustainability Summit held recently.

 

One of the leaders of the companies visited, Mrs. Maureen Ezenwanagu said the recycling company collects nylon and recycles it into plastic hangers, plastic spoons, nylon, and others.

While touring the company, Commissioner Odimegwu who said he was highly impressed with the massive investment of the company in turning waste into wealth and lauded its “industrialization capacity”.

 

Dr Odimegwu stated that the visit is in line with the pursuit of bringing impactful change through the environment by

 

sanitising , encouraging and coordinating waste recyclers and their activities in the state as well as uphold the Governor’s quest for a clean, green, liveable, sustainable, and prosperous homeland.

The Commissioner encouraged the company to sign up with the Anambra State Waste Recyclers Association, ASWRA, for government recognition and benefits, endeavour to develop a catchment pit for the wastewater, and broaden their horizon by recycling more waste for industrial use which he said the benefits are enormous.

 

He called on the public to join forces with the Anambra State Government to maximize waste in the state, by conveying any type of waste to any recycling hub within their reach in exchange for money.
