Governor Chukwuma Soludo has restated the resolve of his administration to turn Anambra State into the biggest digital skills hub in Nigeria and in sub–Saharan Africa where a greater percentage of youths will have employable and exportable tech skills.

The Governor restated this at the International Convention Center, Awka during the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the “One youth two skills” empowerment program; who are five thousand in number.

Governor Soludo emphasized that the agenda is to raise smart entrepreneurs who possess two skills and people that will build businesses that will create jobs, and noted that the only opportunity is to fill the gap between the children of the poor and that of the rich, and reassured that his administration wants to bridge the gap by providing equal opportunities to all through access to quality education, healthcare services and empowerment opportunities.

Governor Soludo said that Anambra State Government is very intentional about human capital development, and called on prospective partners and investors to invest in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of the state.

He noted that Ndi Anambra are enterprising in nature, and advised that youths of Anambra should embrace the true Anambra spirit and shun criminality, even as he congratulated the new entrepreneurs and encouraged them to be committed and make good use of startup funds, reassuring that the state will continue to provide them with free business mentorship program to ensure they succeed.

In his speech, the state Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Aghamba, identified the “One youth two skills” as an evolution for economic emancipation and revolution, and assured that his ministry will continue to harness and maximize the potential of Anambra youths in order to achieve a prosperous homeland.

Mr Ndubuisi Ezeh, a physically challenged person from Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, while appreciating the Governor for the opportunity and empowerment, promised not to fail; as he expressed readiness to become an employer of labour in the near future.

 

Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, traditional rulers, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Empowerment Programs, Dr Nelson Omenugha, National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo, among others attended the event.

The event climaxed when the Governor made a symbolic cheque presentation to some beneficiaries, and announced that they should visit their respective local government areas from Wednesday first November to collect their cheques.
