The Anambra State Universal Basic Education, ASUBEB, has flagged-off Teachers Forum for 2023/2024 Academic Session.
The forum, organised by the Guidance and Counselling Desk of the Department of Academic Services of ASUBEB, attracted Association of Primary School Heads of Nigeria, Heads of the twenty-one Local Government Education Authorities in the state, Guidance and Counselling Desk officers and Heads of sections of Academic Services Unit.
Declaring the event open, the Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, said that the Teachers Forum, which is an annual event in the educational system, avails teachers the opportunity to discuss pertinent issues and topics as they affect academic and social well-being of the pupils and their schools.
Dr. Nwadinobi further noted that the huge investment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the Basic Education, especially in public schools, cannot be overemphasized, and encouraged the Headteachers, Guidance and Counselling Desk officers to step down all the topics that would be discussed for the purpose of improving teaching and learning in their various schools.
Earlier in her welcome Address, The Director, Department of Academic Services, Mrs. Ngozi Enendu, said that Teachers Forum is to create more awareness for Teachers to be more acquainted with the learners under their care, and also a way to harness the synergy between Teachers and learners in order to maximise their potentials.
Paper presentations on “The importance of computer knowledge for Teachers” by Mrs. Chigbo Nwakaego, “General condition and staff attitude to pupils” by Mr. James Obiora, as well as “Promoting the right of persons with Special needs for National integration and stability” by Mrs. Stella Asomugha were the highlights of the flag-off.
ASUBEB Secretary, Mrs. Loveline Mgbemena, Director, Social Mobilisation Department, Mrs. Amaka Ikedimma, and other staff of Academic Services Department were present at the event.
