Anambra State House of Assembly is to partner the Management of Anambra Broadcasting Service to transform the station to global standard.

 

The Chairman, Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Culture and Creative Economy, Mr Chuks Azotani disclosed this when the Committee paid a familiarization visit to the Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir Chido Obidiegwu in his office in Awka.

According to Mr Azotani, the essence of the visit was to familiarize with the management of ABS, figure out the challenges confronting the station with a view to proffering solutions to them.

 

The legislator commended the Managing Director of ABS, Sir. Chido for initiating reforms that had enhanced public enlightenment service of the establishment as well as expanded the reach of the station.

Receiving the Committee, the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir. Chido informed them that in the last one and half years he has managed the outfit, it has tremendously improved in quality, reach and content.

 

He told them that he is working hard alongside members of ABS management to restore the terrestrial status of ABS so that Ndi Anambra can see the lofty projects of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the State and activities of Anambra State House of Assembly from any part of Anambra State.

He further said that Governor Soludo is revamping ABS in a manner that will come in stages, following a proposal he submitted to the State Executive Council in that regard.

 

This, according to him, has expanded the reach of ABS, Onitsha which before now could not transmit beyond Awada, among others.

 

The meeting was attended by Directors of all the Departments in the establishment.
