The Anambra State Government has flagged off “Solution Theatrical Course” in all secondary schools across the State.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, performed the flag off at Jerome Udorji State Secretariat in Awka.

The “Solution Theatrical Course” is a partnership programme between the state government and the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, which is designed to replace the dramatic societies in schools.

It is also designed to have a wider scope in preparing and enlightening the students on government policies and programmes, as well as boost their opportunities in the movie and content making industry in the future.

Before the flag off exercise, Governor Soludo revealed that art is life; and as such will be a powerful tool to inculcate positive values, policies and programmes as well as drive their individual talents for alternative means of livelihood in future.

The Governor, who described drama as a living literature, explained that the “Solution Theatrical Course” will function as a club in private and public schools, and expressed optimism that only theatre can express certain ways of life while reflecting lessons that automatically change one’s narrative.

For the Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, Evangelist Leo Ewuzie, the Solution Theatrical Club is a project aimed at harnessing and reshaping unique talents of students and youths with regular practical experience through theatre, even as he assured that the course will reduce unemployment, increase public speaking skills among children, encourage socialization, discourage indiscipline and other social vices, describing Nollywood as an untapped industry.

Evangelist Ewuzie revealed that they have mapped out plans for a competition from the local government to the six educational zones in the state; which will end up at the grand finale, calling for full participation students .

Contributing, an actress, Lady Chinwoke Mba, pointed out that through the project, students and youths will be knowledgeable about how to defend themselves against abuses and restore confidence in every Anambra child, and assured that parents are in full support of the project; as they are carrying teachers and parents along in all their plans.

Responding, the President of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary School, Anambra State Branch, Mr. Obima Arazu, who expressed willingness to key into the project because of its impact, extolled Governor Soludo’s policies geared toward the development of the students.

Some students, including Miss Blessing Chike and Chinedu Anagor expressed joy over the initiative, which they said will give them early access to film making and other opportunities, and appreciated the Governor for his thoughtfulness in caring for the students of the State.
