The five thousand “One Youth two Skills” entrepreneurship programme beneficiaries that the state government graduated have received their start up seed capital and certificates from UNIZIK Business School as certified entrepreneurs.
The beneficiaries received their cheques through their local government Transition Committee Chairman as directed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
ABS visited Nnewi North, Oyi, Idemili South and Dunukofia Local Government Areas to monitor the distribution.
ABS also observed that the beneficiaries also went home with ten thousand cash for their transportation allowance as promised by Governor Soludo on their graduation day at ICC, Awka.
They received two hundred thousand naira, three hundred thousand naira, four hundred thousand naira, five hundred thousand naira respectively as startup capital relative to the skill acquired.
Nnewi North local government area has two hundred and twelve beneficiaries, Idemili South has ninety-seven, Oyi has seventy-six while Dunukofia has seventy-nine beneficiaries.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Engr Chris Obiorah, that of Oyi Mr Emmanuel Nweke and Dunukofia Local Government Area Transition Committee Chairman, Mr. Augustine Onyemaobi, all commended the initiative and encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds.
They appreciated Governor Soludo for empowering the youths saying that the programme will have a positive impact on the future of the state.
The beneficiaries including Mrs Ogochukwu Agbaim from Nnewi, Miss Tochi Nwankwo and Miss Blessing Nwafor both from Nteje, Oyi local government area said that they are so happy being part of the programme and appreciated Governor Soludo for the opportunity given to them and promised to add value to the society through the empowerment.
