The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghamba says the One Youth, Two Skills initiative of the Soludo administration has had a significant impact on young people across the state.

The Commissioner spoke at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka during a thanksgiving mass for the successful completion and empowerment of five thousand beneficiaries of the Pilot Phase of the one youth two skills initiative.

Mr Aghamba pointed out that the initiative has helped to expand access to training and skills development programmes for young people, and stated that it has helped many of them to acquire skills that were previously unavailable.

He explained that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has succeeded in encouraging young people to become responsible, a situation that has helped to build a sense of responsibility and ownership among young people, which is crucial for building a bright future.

While revealing that the initiative has helped to prepare young people for the workforce by providing them with training in skills that are in high demand, Mr Aghamba, expressed optimism that by providing young people with training and resources to start their own businesses, the initiative has helped to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment, calling on more young people to take advantage of the second batch to help themselves.

In a homily, the Officiating Priest Reverend Father Mark Ike said that it is right to commit all things to God’s alter, noting that it puts one in a position for more blessings, urging Christians to shun pretence and always do good at all times irrespective of the beneficiary.

Reverend Father Ike thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the wonderful work he is doing in the State, especially the successful empowerment of Anambra youths to be self-reliant and more productive.

The Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Commissioner for Entertainment Culture and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji, among others, also attended the thanksgiving mass.
