Anglican faithful in Anambra State, over the weekend at Ekwueme Square Awka gathered in prayer for members, the state and the Nigeria nation.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, among other eminent personalities, participated in the tenth edition of the programme tagged “Anglican Prayer Rally of Anambra State, APRAS, 2023”.

Speaking at the event, the Archbishop Niger Province and Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, charged Christins to have family altars and pray together.

Most Reverend Ibezim appealed to leaders at federal and state levels to go closer to the common man, have a feel of their hard conditions and make necessary sacrifices.

Preaching on the theme, “You shall eat the fruits of your labour”, Bishop Ephraim Ikeakor of Amichi Diocese said God created man to bless him all round, but noted that the blessedness of any man depends on his or her relationship with God.

He reminded the people that sin remains strong weapon against the children of God, and assured that blessed is the man that fears the Lord and walks according to his ways.

In his remark, Governor Soludo, who noted that God hears the prayers of the faithful, called for the sustenance of the programme, as well as encouraged a gathering of Christians of various denominations for such event, and the church to remain watchful to avoid derailing.

Restating his administration’s determination to deliver on campaign promises, Governor Soludo said compassion propels his leadership to do more for the people with less, insisting that God’s works must be done here on earth, and that both government and the church have responsibilities for the masses.

In an address, the Secretary of the Planning Committee, Venerable Solomon Chidoka, said the event is apt, especially now that the state, Nigeria and some international communities are facing one challenge or the other.
