To ensure that the ongoing second statewide outbreak response immunization against Circulating Variant Polio Virus Type Two is successfully executed in Anambra East Local Government Area, the Transition Committee Chairman of the Local Government Area, Dr. Anselm Onuorah has promised to pay additional five-thousand-naira logistics support to each of the three hundred and seven health personnel and volunteers that are currently executing the immunization exercise in the area.
Dr. Onuorah who made this known while inaugurating the exercise at Umuoba Anam ward, said that the gesture was to complement the Anambra state government and other development partners in their budgeted sum for-health workers in the four-day exercise.
He appealed to the health workers to do their job judiciously to ensure that the immunization yields its intended result, and urged people of the Local Government to collaborate with the health workers to make the exercise a hitch free.
Dr. Onuorah called on parents and caregivers to bring out their children and wards under the age of zero to fifty-nine months for them to be immunized, even as he charged traditional rulers, Presidents-General, religious leaders and other stakeholders in the area to help in sensitizing the people on the benefits of the ongoing immunization.
The Local Government Transition Committee Chairman had earlier spearheaded a pivotal meeting with the Anambra East Health Committee and the staff of various primary health care centers in the Local Government Area which served as a platform to strategize in alignment with the World Health Organization’s guidelines for the smooth execution of the exercise.
