About two hundred and fifty-five students in Dunukofia -Njikoka-Anaocha Federal constituency were over the weekend screened for eligibility for scholarship in WAEC and Project fees.

The screening exercise took place at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area and that the youths were selected from all the political wards in the constituency.

The students were screened one after the other by the board constituted for the screening exercise to ensure transparency and to make sure the grant gets to the targeted beneficiaries.

Explaining the criteria to qualify as a beneficiary, the Chairman of the board and the Chancellor, Awka Catholic Diocese, Reverend Father Charles Ndubuisi, said the grant has two categories.

The first category is for one hundred and two final year students of tertiary institutions to help them in their chosen projects, while the second category is payment of WAEC for one hundred and fifty-three students in secondary schools.

Reverend Father Ndubuisi said the gesture was initiated by the member representing Dunukofia -Njikoka-Anaocha Federal Constituency, Honourable George Ozodinobi, to assist Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his free education-for-all policy, and a way of giving back to the society.

He said the programme, which is the maiden edition, would continue to ensure that no child is left behind, urging the beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously and better their lives; just as he said that the gesture has no political and denominational arrangement; but for every student from the federal constituency.

In their separate reactions, two of the students screened, Master Mmesoma Nwokelo and Miss Chinecherem Nwakasi who said they were shortlisted for the screening exercise through online registration made open to them in their various local government areas, expressed hope that they would be among the beneficiaries, and prayed God to bless their benefactor, Honourable Ozodinobi.
