Two hundred and seventeen Anglican faithful were administered with the sacrament of confirmation during a special service held at Immanuel Parish Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area.

During the service which was officiated by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, some faithful were also admitted into Girls Guild, Women’s Guild and Anglican Men’s Fellowship for all the churches under the Good News Archdeaconry.

In a sermon during the service, Right Reverend Ezeofor charged Christians to use their various positions in bringing the needed transformation in the society.

He regretted the high rate of crime in the society, especially kidnapping, and banditry, which he blamed on the quest for materialism; especiaunduelly among the youths.

Bishop Ezeofor, who regretted the rate at the which youths are going back to idolatry, described it as a major challenge facing Christianity, and charged the youths to emulate the Biblical Timothy who started from the cradle to know God through the Holy scripture.

Right Reverend Ezeofor, who is also the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, EFAC, Nigeria, cautioned Christians against amalgamating their faith with idol worship, reminding them of the need to always give good testimonies about Jesus Christ.

He equally charged ministers of God to always preach the gospel undiluted; instead of focusing just on gospel of prosperity and convenience.

He regretted that many faithful are working for God without knowing Jesus Christ, and charged those that received the sacrament of confirmation and those admitted into Girls Guild, Women’s Guild and Anglican Men’s Fellowship, to be good Ambassadors of Christ by living lives capable of winning souls for Christ.

In a remark, the Archdeacon of the Good News Archdeaconry and Vicar of Immanuel Parish Awgbu, Venerable Decency Chine, who thanked the bishop for the visit, cautioned Christians against playing double standards.

He charged the faithful to be committed and serious in their service to God, reminding them that all must give account of their stewardship on the judgement day.

The President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor, and some Diocesan officials attended the service which also featured special anthem by the Good News Archdeaconry choir, series of prayers for those in leadership positions, the church, Anambra State and the Nigerian nation.
