Ahead of the yuletide, and in support of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s grassroot development programme, the Great Orumba South Solution Team under the leadership of the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu, has embarked on palliative work on roads in the area; beginning from Nawfija community.
Inaugurating the exercise at Eke market Nawfija, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Uchendu, said the gesture is a way of giving back to the society, and appreciated God for blessing the area with human and other resources.
He recalled the hardship he experienced; which community members live with, saying that the sad experience on Nawfija road and laudable projects of some groups in Nawfija community; including construction of gutters and ultramodern market influenced his decision to commence the road work in Nawfija.
Prince Uchendu said he will be donating the machines needed for the job to ensure that each of the fifteen communities in the area will benefit from the gesture.
He commended Governor Soludo for linking Orumba South Local Government Area with the capital city, adding that with over sixteen kilometers of ongoing road projects in the area, Orumba South is the highest beneficiary of the Soludo administration so far, and promised to be monitoring the road projects.
Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma, represented by Engineer Obi Okafor, said the palliative work is truly in support of Governor Soludo on rural development, and called on other Transition Committee Chairmen to emulate Prince Uchendu.
In his remark, the Member representing Orumba South Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Engineer Emma Nwafor, represented by Mr Balak Offor, said the event marks a change of history in Nawfija community, just as the leader of Presidents-General in Orumba South LGA, Dr Sam Oguagbaka, said the gesture is a way of supporting Governor Soludo affect lives in their communities.
Narrating the hardship the community faces over poor road network, and efforts of members of the community, the traditional ruler of Nawfija, Igwe Clifford Okeke, and another community leader, Chief Innocent Nwankwo, thanked Governor Soludo and Prince Uchendu for keeping their promises to fix roads in the area, adding that the community has no regrets in supporting APGA government in the state.
The event attracted Orumba South Leaders of Thought, top politicians, religious organizations, traditional rulers, Presidents-General, among others.
