More than two thousand youths are set to benefit from the Code Anambra programme, a digital skills initiative of Solution Innovation District of the Anambra State Government.
The programme which has already kicked-off will go on virtually and physically and is targeted to empower the youths with life changing digital skills in order to become competitive global citizens and for the state to become a destination to source talents with digital skills.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, top government officials, tech entrepreneurs, industry leaders, educators, among others, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to propel Anambra state into the forefront of technological advancements as industrial experts led engaging workshops at the event and provided invaluable insights into the practical applications of coding in real world scenarios.
Dr. Ibezim said that as the world is increasingly defined by digital innovation, Code Anambra represents the state government’s commitment to empowering the next generation with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and contribute to the evolving tech-driven global economy.
He commended the organizers, educators, and all who contributed in making Code Anambra a reality for the remarkable feat, and said that the programme will mark the beginning of a transformative journey that will propel Anambra to a new heights of technological innovation even as he encouraged participants to embrace the opportunity because the skills they will acquire will not only open doors to exciting career paths but also position them as pioneers in the digital transformation of the state.
In her opening speech, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Ms Chinwe Okoli said that Code Anambra Programme is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering the youths of Anambra with essential coding skills, positioning them at the forefront of the digital revolution with a comprehensive curriculum spanning software development, artificial intelligence, and cyber security.
Miss Okoli said that originally, the training fee for such training is three point five million naira in other states but has been made accessible to all participants at no cost by the governor and appreciated his visionary decision to remove financial barriers and ensure inclusivity in tech education, adding that the programme will take four months to end with fourteen courses, urging the beneficiaries to utilize the life changing opportunity.
Also Speaking, the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko appreciated Governor Soludo for opening doors to tech education and allowing individuals from diverse backgrounds to participate and benefit from the transformative potential of the Code Anambra initiative.
The General Manager of Decent Job Tech Skills Limited, Mr. Godwin Obekpa and a Tech Expert, Mr. Solomon Ezeokika said that Code Anambra programme presents a myriad of opportunities for participants, unlocking doors to personal and professional growth in the dynamic world of technology such as skill acquisition, innovation problem solving, networking, career path way, entrepreneur ventures, community engagement among others.
The event featured interactive sessions, workshops, and panel discussions, providing participants with valuable insights into the latest trends and best practices in the tech industry.
