Governor Chukwuma Soludo says former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju led the way for the development of the State, judging from his legacies.
He stated this during a commendation service held at the International Convention Centre in Awka in honour of the late Dr. Mbadinuju.
Governor Soludo extoled his achievements in the area of security of lives and property which led to the establishment of the Anambra Vigilante service, rejuvenated by successive administrations, infrastructural development, and teaching the people how to pray, among others.
While stating that his memory will remain ever green, Governor Soludo noted that no mortal is perfect, but that the important thing is for people to do their best at all times, and told his critics who chose to judge him based on the strike action embarked upon by the Labour Union during his time, that it is not fair.
Chairman on the occasion Dr. ABC Orjiakor, thanked Governor Soludo for his decision to honour the dead, and eulogized his fear of God, humility and dedication towards the development of the State.
Dr. Orjiakor recalled that the late former Governor Mbadinuju mapped out all of the roads in Anambra, many of which were actualized, constructed the State House of Assembly, Anambra State university, commenced the journey of projecting Anambra as one of the oil producing States which eventually gave birth to the energy committee and orient petroleum, among many other legacies.
In his speech, Dr. Chinedu Emeka who served as Deputy Governor under the late Dr Mbadinuju administration described him as a figure of influence and servant of the people, pointing out that the legacies he laid continue to speak and added that he enjoyed a collaborative relationship with him.
He maintained that after his time, Ndị Anambra collectively resolved that no godfather will hold the State to ransom again.
Speaking to the ABS, Former Governor Chris Ngige described the late Dr. Mbadinuju as a silent achiever, just as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze and Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu were of the opinion that Dr. Mbadinuju did not get the accolades he deserved during his lifetime and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The event climaxed when Cheta Mbadinuju led the presentation of books written by the former Governor.
In attendance were former Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Senator Uche Ekwunife, former Governor Willie Obiano, represented by former Principal Secretary, Sir Willie Nwokoye, members of the State Executive Council, Transition Committee Chairmen, Traditional Rulers and Presidents-General among others.
