Adaeze Chinelo Ojukwu was born on 31st March, 1967 in Obubra, present day Cross River State to Mr. Samuel of blessed memory and Ezinne Mrs. Felicia Igboeli of Enu ara Orofia Village, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
She had her primary school education at Uwani Primary School and Amaigbo Lane Primary School both in Enugu, then East Central State. She attended Queen of the Rosary College (QRC) Onitsha for her junior Secondary School before finishing her secondary education at Federal Government College, Langtang in Plateau State.
She then proceeded to the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where she graduated with a second class honours, upper division, in English Language. She served Nigeria as a youth corps member at Bayero University, Kano before furthering her education at the University of Lagos where she obtained her Masters degree in Mass Communication.
The young Adaeze got married to Christian Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, an Architect, of Umuagu Village, Ngo Nnobi at All Saints Cathedral in Onitsha on 22nd December, 1990 and this union is blessed with four lovely adult children: Chuka, Ada, Chike and Ifunanya.
Adaeze worked in The Champion Newspapers, where she rose from the ranks to become Head of Nutrition and Health Desk from 2003 to 2004; Editor of Weekend Champion and Deputy News Editor of Champion Newspapers from 2006 to 2010. While at The Champion Newspaper, she received a scholarship from the prestigious Hubert Humphrey fellowship (HHF) in 2003 to undertake a professional certification programme in Health and Development Communication at Rutgers University, New Jersey, United States of America. Following her completion of the fellowship, she returned to Nigeria and resumed her work in Champion Newspapers.
Between 2007 and 2009, she lectured at the prestigious Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone under the sponsorship of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was a member of Nigerian Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF) and Africa Vision Tract House Society (AVTHS) and served as the pioneer Editor for both societies.
Adaeze enjoyed her stay in Sierra Leone as she used it as an avenue to make missionary openings for NCGF and AVTHS. She was also member of other Christian organizations from Nigeria.
In 2011, she became a freelance journalist writing for several media organizations such as the Sun and Daily Independent for more than ten years. In 2020, she was made editor of the Sunday Times by the Daily Times Group. She also created her website Devcamradar.org where she published news, articles and stories especially as regards to international development.
In 2021, she started a quarterly magazines series, Devcamradar magazines and in 2022 she authored her first book “A COMPENDIUM OF ICONIC ARTICLES” VOLUME 1 and released her second book “GREEN YOUR WORLD” early this year. These books are in Amazon series of publications and Book stores nationwide. She was writing her third book when she transited to eternal glory.
Adaeze received numerous awards for demonstrating excellence and the highest standard of ethical values and integrity in journalism and for promoting positive social change in Nigeria. Few of the awards include special recognition at African women Industrialization awards 2021, Social Transformation Service award from US consulate Lagos, third and first prize awards in Nutrition writing from Nestle Nigeria in different years.
She was a community builder, a fervent Christian and a prayerful woman with an unwavering faith in God. She was the President of Ngo Nnobi Women Association,
Lagos; Public Relations Officer of the Hubert Humphrey fellowship Alumni Association and also a member of the USA Government Exchange Alumni Association.
Adaeze, you are loved, cherished and will be fondly remembered by your countless friends, colleagues and church members.
