Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Ministry headed by Honourable Ify Obinabo has trained more than seventy selected women for Microfinance seed grant in Awka.
The training was done in collaboration with the Anambra Women United Inc Chicago USA as a means of empowering and contributing to the well-being of humanity by focusing on disadvantaged women and children in the society.
Speaking during the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Honourable Obinabo charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the grant and save properly in order to be able to return it as at when due.
The Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner cautions the women to stay away from joining associations that do not have their best interest at heart as such is one of the fastest ways of being unproductive with the funds which will be given to them.
While training the selected beneficiaries, the facilitator Mr. Chika Ezenduka noted that the thought was formed out of a great need and burning desire to contribute to humanity and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money as the donors will be investing again if they used the funds judiciously.
The beneficiaries were selected from all the twenty-one local government areas of the state.
As a way of ensuring strict adherence to the terms and conditions of the grant, an account was opened for each one of them at the end of the training to monitor usage and progress report.
