A two-day crusade organized by Awka for Christ Initiative has ended with a call to Ndigbo to come together and champion peace and unity .

 

The crusade held at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, was tagged’ Awka City Wide Crusade and was in partnership with churches in Awka.

It has the theme “Jesus Christ Reigns Over Awka” and featured salvation, breakthrough, healing, deliverance, open doors and miracles.

 

The crusade which started since 1991 was a biannual arrangement, aimed at praying for the land, down trodden, against idol worship, cultism and all manner of immoralities in Awka and environs as well as usher in new breeze of development and progress.

The guest preacher, Reverend Dr Uma Ukpai regretted the level of greed and disunity amongst the Igbo people , calling for total repentance and love for each other, while reminding the congregation that Christ condemned killing and shedding of innocent blood which he lamented has taken over the whole region.

Dr Ukpai reminded the congregation of the wrath of God to anyone who works against his tenets and precepts noting that judgement of God awaits those who soil their hands in iniquity, while praying for breakthrough and progress of all.

The Co-Ordinator of Awka for Christ Initiative, Mr. Okezie Nnebe said initially, they do organise it at branch level, noting that it has now spread far and wide, stating that their focus is to end cultism and expressed satisfaction that through prayers, the community has witnessed government presence and development, urging those still indulging in idol worship to desist and embrace Christ.

The Lagos Branch Representative of Awka for Christ Initiative, Reverend Chukwuemeka Emeka said due to ugly challenges witnessed in Awka, they embarked on the crusade to seek God’s face to bring the community back to Christ adding that the prayers are yielding fruits as Awka has witnessed progress and development.

 

On his part, the Chief Coordinator Security and Special Duties, Evangelist Jeff Nwabueze maintained that their trust is in God has helped them all through as they have recorded huge success and miracles including the successes witnessed in the land, assuring all who attended that the prophecies at the programme will come to fruition.

In their separate speeches, the Organizing Chairman of the crusade, Reverend Theophilus Orji, Deputy Coordinator Awka for Christ Initiative, Reverend Emmanuel Nwakasi and Evangelist Ngozi Obie said the crusade was a huge success, calling on all to live Christ-like life and stop killings or shedding of blood for Christ to continue dwelling among them.

 

Prayers were offered for Awka and environs, Anambra State Government and the entire society.
