Anambra State Government says it is committed to building old people’s home in 2024 fiscal year that will take proper care of aged parents languishing in their various homes.
The Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Pauly Onyeka disclosed this while defending the 2024 budget estimate of the Ministry before the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development at State House of Assembly Complex in Awka.
Honourable Onyeka who pointed out that Anambra State Government is thinking about old people that do not have people or caregivers to take care of them said that was why they have made a provision for them in the 2024 budget estimate of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The Commissioner told the Committee that the state government is committed towards making the new Government House and Governor’s lodge under construction in Awka and the Commissioner’s Quarters fully functional next year.
He disclosed that Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka will be refurbished to international standard so that it will be a befitting arena for holding big events, even as he added that public buildings in the state that are in bad shape will be rehabilitated.
On his part, the Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Nonso Atuchukwu commended the implementation of 2023 budget of the Ministry and observed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is determined to spread the dividends of democracy to all parts of Anambra State in 2024 fiscal year.
Honourable Atuchukwu expressed confidence that by the time the 2024 budget of Anambra State is fully executed, the state will have a wonderful facelift.
The key officials of the Depuy Governor’s office also appeared before the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation and defended their 2024 budget estimate.
