The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr. Joe Akabuike, has charged young doctors to always abide by the ethics of the medical profession at all times.

Dr. Akabuike gave the charge at the induction of the 2023 medical graduands of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University held at the hospital premises, Awka.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Akabuike, who presented paper at the induction ceremony, chronicled the genesis of medical practice from the old age to the modern era, and explained that medical practice is a noble profession that demands that only those with intelligence and sound mind will venture into.

The COOUTH CMD, whose lecture topic was ” a physician as an administrator”, argued that because of the holistic and an all encompassing training being given to medical doctors, they tend to be good administrators, and called on government at all levels to prioritize their welfare at all times.

According to Dr. Akabuike, patients are the most difficult people to manage and as such, doctors must always put their feelings into considerations, even as he warned them to be careful with negligence of duty to avoid unending litigations that may arise from it, and to be careful with signing falsified documents, especially the issues of certificate of deaths.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Greg Nwakoby, advised the newly inducted doctors to be good ambassadors of the institution, their families and the society in general.
