The remains of the late Chief Joseph Emeka have been laid to rest at his country home, Umuatuolu village, Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.

 

The late Chief Emeka was aged 62.

Until his Death, Chief Emeka was a Knight of Saint Christopher of the Anglican Communion, a devoted Christian and a successful business man.

 

People from far and near within and outside Anambra including Port Harcourt, Rivers State where he was based came in their numbers to pay their last respect to the deceased.

A burial service was held in his honour at the Cathedral Church of St. Gabriel, Umueri officiated by the Bishop Diocese of Niger West, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe assisted by other members of the clergy.

 

Delivering a sermon at the burial service, Bishop Ekwe described the deceased as a humble man with fear of God who was known for his hospitality and service to God and humanity.

Bishop Ekwe who commended the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka and the entire Edward Emeka family for their benevolence, service to God and humanity, love and unity among themselves, prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

 

He noted that people will always be remembered for their works when they are no more and charged people to strive to leave good legacies that will live beyond them.

In his remarks, Igwe Emeka who said that the death of his younger brother was unexpected, described him as an embodiment of humility, hard work and dedication to service to God and thanked those that attended the burial.

 

On their parts, the children of the Late Sir Joseph, Onyedika, Nneoma and Promise Emeka said words were not enough to describe their father who was very dear, loving and caring to them, adding that his death has created a vacuum in their family and promised to keep his legacies alive.

Other brothers of the deceased, including Chiefs Samuel, Godwin and Emeka Emeka regretted the exit of their brother, but noted that his life was well lived .

 

Speakers at the burial ceremony including Chief Stanley Ezeanyaku gave good testimony of the Late Sir Joseph.

 

Condolences by in-laws, relations, groups and friends, cultural dances and other entertainment formed the highlights of the burial ceremony.
