Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Budget has directed the key officials of the Ministry of Justice to break down all they intend to achieve in 2024 fiscal year for easy tracking.

 

 

 

The committee gave the directive when the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Anambra State, Professor Chika Ifemeje appeared before the committee at Anambra State House of Assembly complex to defend their 2024 budget estimate.

 

 

 

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that commenting on the budget estimate of the Ministry, the Chairman of the committee, Honourable Ejike Okechukwu observed that it was over lumped and the committee after scrutinizing the budget, directed them to list the projects they intend to accomplish the year line by line to enable them when the need arises.

 

 

 

 

Earlier, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Anambra State, Professor Ifemeje while giving an overview of the Ministry’s budget performance for 2023, disclosed that they have commenced full automation of justice service delivery system to aid quick dispensation of justice and it will be completed in 2024 fiscal year among others.

 

 

 

On his part, the Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, Honourable Pat Okafor expressed satisfaction with the budget performance of the Ministry for 2023 fiscal year and stressed the need for more funds to be released to the Ministry to enable them do more next year.

 

 

 

Honourable Okafor, however assured that the committee will monitor the money approved and budgeted for them by way of oversight so that Ndi Anambra will get the value for it.

 

 

 

The Chief Registrar, Anambra State Judiciary, High Court of Justice, Mrs. Chinyere Osy-Okoye appeared before the committee with the key officials of Anambra State Judiciary and defended their budget estimate for 2024 fiscal year
