The Rotary Club International has conferred the Paul Harris Fellow Award on Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye. A delegation of the Club from District 9142 covering South East states, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, decorated the CP at the Police Commissioner’s office, state Command’s Headquarters, Amawbia, Awka South Council Area.
The Governor of the District, Mr Akan Emah who led the delegation said the honour was in recognition of his support and significant contributions to Rotary Global Initiative to eradicate polio across the world.
Mr Emah noted that the Police Commissioner is one of those who have continued to partner the Rotary Club International over the years to ensure that people all over the globe don’t suffer the challenges of polio.
He said the club also recognised his sustained efforts towards entrenching security, law and order as well as peace and stability in the State.
The Rotary Club District Governor who discribed the Commissioner as a gift to Anambra State, said men like him should be celebrated, supported and encouraged to bring out the best in them in their service to the people, urging him to do more for the state and Nigeria.
Also speaking, another member of the delegation, Mr Chika Ekwueme said the club is also ready to partner with the police to enable the personnel understand many opportunities available in the club for human
capital development.
Mr Ekwueme noted that the Club and the police should work together for a better and secured society as well as provision of interventions in areas of need.
Responding, CP Adeoye while thanking the club for the honour, assured that he would continue to identify with its various humanitarian activities to touch more lives.
He also asked the club to extend its interventions to prison decongestion to ensure that people don’t over stay in detention.
