The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has commissioned Primary Health Care centre, Odekpeh Anambra West Local Government Area.

 

Commissioning the building reconstructed by the Transition Committee Chairman of the local government, Mr. Felix Ikechi, Dr. Obidike said that Governor Chukuwma Soludo’s administration is committed to entrusting quality and affordable healthcare delivery to Ndi Anambra.

He disclosed that plans are underway to recruit about five hundred qualified healthcare workers emphasizing that the exercise would be merit based with a focus on individuals equipped with relevant skills and qualifications.

Dr. Obidike asserted that the employment of more healthcare workers shall strengthen the existing health personnel on ground, and commended Governor Soludo for his commitment to improving the healthcare system and ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for Ndi Anambra, promising that capable healthcare workers who are mostly indigenes and ready to work for their people would be employed to man the healthcare Centre.

 

Dr. Obidike appealed to the people of Odekpe community to ensure adequate maintenance of the healthcare centre and facilities therein so as to ensure its sustainability.

The Executive Secretary Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Pharmacist. Chisom Uchem, commended Governor Soludo for prioritizing the health needs of Ndi Anambra through the approval of over five hundred health care personnel to strengthen the existing ones.

 

Pharmacist Uchem said that by increasing the health care workforce, the government aims to improve the overall healthcare delivery, enhance the quality of medical services and reduce the burden on existing healthcare professionals.

For the Transition Committee chairman, Mr. Ikechi, he is committed towards ensuring that solution agenda on quality and affordable healthcare delivery is felt across communities in Anambra West as envisioned in Anambra West Integrated Development strategy.

 

The Anambra West mayor disclosed that since 2012, flood menace that damaged the centre, his people have been finding it difficult to access quality healthcare system.

According to Mr. Ikechi, the healthcare Centre is equipped with modern medical equipment and facilities that will cater for the healthcare needs of the residents in and around Odekpe, noting that with the initiative, government aims to address the healthcare gaps in the area and ensure that primary healthcare services are readily available to the people, and commended Governor Soludo for giving him the enabling environment that sees to the success of the project.
