Anambra State Government has held its 2023 Christmas carols, as residents were called on to be united and extend love during the yuletide.

 

At the event were the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, other members of the state executive council, including the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Paul Nwosu, and his Economic Planning and Budgets’ counterpart, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism led by its Commissioner, Mr. Don Onyenji.

 

Declaring the event opened, Dr Ibezim said that the season of Christmas is a time of supplication to God and to show love to one’s neighbors and emphasized that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has continued to preach ecumenism which he noted is an important ingredient for unity and development in the state.

Deputy Governor Ibezim also said that the state government has set the celebration in motion with the distribution of bags of rice to communities in the state, Christmas largesse to civil servants, ongoing construction of roads in communities and operation zero potholes among other dividends of democracy.

 

Dr. Ibezim described 2023 as a successful year, noting that the year will be remembered as a year of steady development in all parts of the state.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Onyenji charged Christians to spread love, not only during the yuletide, but throughout the year, and emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ as demonstrated in his humility and service to humanity.

Mr. Onyenji while welcoming his visitors, and Ndi Anambra in diaspora to the state, assured them that they will enjoy peace, tranquility and good road networks in every community in the state, courtesy of the Solution government.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget Mrs. Nnake and a partner of the state government in the event Barrister Anthony Agbasili said that they are recipients of God’s grace and the season teaches them to extend a hand of generosity and brotherliness toward every mankind.

The event featured Christmas carols, comedy, live band, dance, performances, games, refreshments amongst others .

The event was attended by the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, his counterpart in Anambra State Waste Management Authority, ASWAMA, Mr. Mike Ozoemena and Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra State, OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, representatives of different Student Union governments, security agencies, among others.
