Today all roads lead to Umueze village Isuofia where Ndi Anambra will pay their last respect to late Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo, the father of the Governor of Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

 

 

 

In a dirge in his honour, the Anambra state Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, described Pa Soludo as a selfless man, who left incredible foot prints on the sands of time.

 

 

 

Tracing the life history of Pa Soludo, popularly known as Akukananwa 1, Sir Paul said that he was versatile and good at everything he sets his hands on.

 

 

 

Starting from the tender age of seven, Pa Simeon left home as an apprentice trader, joined the Boys Scout Movement at age of twelve.

 

 

 

He later returned to village in 1946, worked for Shell Petroleum and journeyed to Siroko, Ondo state, as a sawyer and also embarked in restaurant business.

 

 

 

Pa Soludo also excelled in Nigersem Nkalagu and engaged in many community vigilante services, because he was a man that was determined to succeed in spite of acute paucity of resources.

 

 

 

Pa Soludo on December 30, 1992 at the age of sixty-one, shared is inheritance among his nine children showing that he was a wonderful father.

 

His love for his children was made manifest in his name Akukananwa, with which he was inducted into Nze na Ozo society in Isuofia.

 

 

 

He will be missed by his seven surviving children, Emmanuel, Chukwuma, Ogochukwu, Kenneth, Ifeanyi, Celestine and Obuneme, including numerous relations and friends and entire Ndi Anambra who are today reaping the fruits of his good legacies as seen in the character of his second son, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
