Dr Clement Nduka has been initiated into the sacred Nze na Ozo Society of Ancient Nri Kingdom.

 

The venue of the event which was at the residence of the Celebrant at Umudiana Adama Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area had in attendance people from Umudiana Adama Nri, Ndi Nze na Ozo, Chikwado Oganairu Age Grade, Ndi Okolo, Umuada, Iyom di, family members, friends and associates of the celebrant.

In addition, his enthronement into the hallowed Oba stool of Ancient Nri Kingdom will take place on the fourth of January 2024.

 

The initiation ceremony into the Nze na Ozo commenced with the entrance of Ndi Nze na Ozo dressed in all white attires, red caps, traditional beads and with their iron cast staff which they placed in a sand filled bucket one after the other before taking their seats.

Thereafter, the celebrant went from one group to the other to interact as tradition demands before the final initiation which was conducted by the oldest Ozo, Chief Ignatius Nduka who is also the elder brother to the Celebrant, who performed the itu nzu and breaking of the kolanut before adorning the celebrant with the traditional red cap and owulu that signified initiating him into the Nze na Ozo society.

 

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Society, Chief Pascal Okeke stated that Nze na Ozo in the olden days kept the peace, ran the judicial arm of the native government, and were expected to be upright and truthful.

The celebrant who took the titled name of “Ikenga Adama Na Nri”, pointed out that the virtues of truthfulness, honesty, just, are his motivation to get initiated into the group while the wife of the celebrant, Chinwe while describing the ceremony as a day of joy, said that she expects her husband to live up to the principles that guide the Nze na Ozo society.

 

There were cultural dances and paying of homage to the celebrant.
