Traders at the grain seed market along Onitsha-Enugu expressway have moved to their new site, fruit and vegetable market Ogbaru following the directive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

 

The exercise took place when a team of OCHA brigade sealed the entire market directing traders to move to the new site at Atani road, in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

 

When the ABS crew arrived at the market, the place was deserted as the entrance gates were under lock and key with security men and members of OCHA Brigade guarding the market to ensure sanity and compliance.

 

At the Fruit and Vegetable Market Ogbaru, ABS observed that commercial activities have commenced as traders were seen buying and evacuating their goods to their various destinations while heavy-duty trucks were seen off-loading their goods smoothly.

 

Speaking to the ABS, the Chairman of Fruit and Vegetable Dealers Association Anambra state, Mr. Charles Egeonu commended the State government for establishing the Market.

 

Mr Egeonu outlined some challenges encountered at Old site including road congestion and accidents among others, stressing that the new site is very conducive for commercial activities.

 

On his part, a former special Adviser to the Governor and secretary of the task force Mr Afamefuna Enebelu extolled Governor Soludo, the Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Somtochukwu Udeze, the Special Adviser on Trade and Market, Chief Evaristus Uba for the new development.

 

On his part, the President-General of Ogbaru development union, Chief Francis Oranuba who expressed satisfaction with the exercise highlighted the benefits in the development of the state, calling on all traders to ensure compliance.

 

Some of the traders including Alhaji Zuberu Umaru and Mrs Ify Igala commended Governor Soludo for such decision.
