Parishioners of the Cathedral Church of Saint John Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area, yesterday, converged on the Cathedral for a special service to mark the Christmas.

The service, which was jointly facilitated by the Cathedral Administrator, Venerable Ifeanyichukwu Ogbueli, and one of the priests in the Cathedral, Reverend Canon Tony Okeke, attracted the President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor, some Diocesan officials, Knights and Ladies of the Church, as well as a one-time Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Professor Uba Nwuba, among others.

In a sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, charged Christians to always give proper testimony about the incarnation of Jesus Christ.

Bishop Ezeofor, who maintained that Jesus Christ came to the world in human form to salvage and redeem mankind, regretted that many people are making Christmas lose it’s concept and meaning.

Right Reverend Ezeofor said that although the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, Jesus Christ is still on the throne to protect his own, and charged the faithful to desist from acts capable of portraying Christianity in bad light.

He regretted the series of challenges Nigerians are passing through; especially high cost of living, economic somersault, insecurity, among others, and urged the faithful to anchor their faith and believe in God despite the vicissitudes of life.

Right Reverend Ezeofor who is also the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, EFAC, Nigeria, charged those in leadership positions to emulate the humility of Jesus Christ, reminding them of the need to always give hope to the people as good stewards.

He maintained that through the birth of Jesus Christ, all the signs of Immanuel were fulfilled because he is the salt and light of life.

The service featured Holy Eucharist, series of prayers for the leadership of the church, Anambra State, the Nigerian nation, as well as general thanksgiving and special anthem by the Cathedral choir.
