Christians all over the world yesterday celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ known as Christmas.

 

They were gorgeously adorned in beautiful dresses depicting the mood of the season, while churches were also decorated and the priests appeared in white liturgical vestments.

The choruses and hymn were halleluiah, Christ is born in Bethlehem.

 

The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, and Bishop, Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim said the true meaning of Christmas is love and as such Christians should continuously promote the love of God in their daily endeavours.

He noted that God is an embodiment of immeasurable love, who brought His son in human form to offer salvation to humanity and there was need for the faithful to reciprocate such gesture by living according to His dictates.

 

In a sermon at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka, the retired Bishop of Isikwuato/Umunnochi, Right Reverend Samuel Chukwuka said that God brought his son Jesus Christ as a final revelation and judge stating that he is the hope and light of all nation and whose ever that believes in him shall be redeemed.

The Bishop, Methodist Church Nigeria, Right Reverend Onyekachi Nwakanma maintained that Christ came to outshine darkness and bring salvation .

 

In a homily, the Administration Assistant one at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Awka, Reverend Father Leo Okoye described Christ as a great physician who came to heal the land from all situations, calling on Christians to believe in him and run away from the saying that Christ is not real because judgement day and rapture are around the corner and only those who believed in him shall inherit his kingdom.
