In line with the peaceful disposition of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, and efforts of the Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs to ensure people-oriented town union governments across the state, the Ogbunka community in Orumba South Local Government Area has elected new town union executive headed by Chief Jude Chukwubueze as the President General, and Kingsley Ezue as the Vice President General.
The others are Reverend Canon Hyacinth Onwuaso – Secretary General, Felix Ike – Treasurer, Ugochukwu Okoli – Public Relations Officer, Prince Chika Egbuha – Provost One, Fidelis Obi – Provost Two, and Alex Igbokwe – Provost Three.
In his valedictory remark before the election monitored by officials from the Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs led by Mr. Tony Onyekomelu, the immediate past President General of Ogbunka Development Union, ODU, Dr. Josiah Okoli, who gave account of his three years stewardship, thanked his team, ODU branches and other individuals for their support to his leadership.
He called for same support to the newly elected executive to enable them surpass his achievements, just as he encouraged the new community leaders to uphold the constitution of Ogbunka, and focus on other measures that will strengthen and sustain peace in the community.
In his remark, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu, who noted that peace in the area is necessary for sustainable development, restated Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s determination to enthrone law and order in affairs of various communities in the state.
Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Foster Ihejiofor, who hails from Ogbunka, commended Dr. Okoli for upholding the town’s constitution as the thirteenth President General of the community.
Also commending Dr. Okoli for surpassing expectations as the President General, the Chairman of Titled Chiefs in Ogbunka, Chief Ernest Onyeakalusi, assured the new executive of support of community members.
At a meeting before the election, members Ogbunka community appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the ongoing Ogbunka-Nawfija-Akpu road project, and appointment of their son as a member of the Anambra State Executive Council.
