Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has signed the 2024 Appropriation Into Law.
The budget law is an important part of the financial process as it ensures that public funds are spent in a planned and organized way that benefits Anambra and the economy and the government is now enabled to start spending the allocated funds according to the budget plan.
Recall that on November, 21, 2023, Governor Soludo presented a four hundred and ten billion, one hundred and thirty-two million, two hundred and twenty-five thousand, two hundred- and seventy-two-naira budget for the 2024 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.
The budget, which is fifty-seven-point eight percent higher than the 2023 budget, is focused on infrastructure development, education, and health care among others .
Performing the function, Governor Soludo thanked all stakeholders who have been involved in the entire process, pointing out that Anambra State House of Assembly worked very hard to conclude the process .
The Governor who explained that with the budget in hand, the real transformation using the five pillars of his administration will now begin, noted that infrastructure and human capital development are among the front burner issues, stressing that they have a timeline, as Ndị Anambra cannot wait.
By signing the budget into law, the state government now has officially approved and authorized the budget plan that the legislative branch approved.
Also, the Governor signed a law to repeal the Anambra State Print and Newspaper Printing Corporation.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Somtochukwu Udeze, Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu, among others, witnessed the signing ceremony.
