Association of Umuada Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area, has conferred “Akwaugo Isuofia” title on Mrs. Nonye Soludo wife of the governor of Anambra State in recognition of her efforts in community development, social empowerment and promotion of rights of the girl child and women.

 

The association bestowed the honour on the governor’s wife in Isuofia during its project launching and unification of Adabugo Isuofia at home and in the diaspora.

Association of Umuada Isuofia, traditionally known as Adabugo Isuofia, comprises all Isuofia women married within or outside the community.

 

Speaking shortly after her official investiture, Mrs. Soludo praised the women for their commitment to community development and for showing special interest in agriculture.

She described the honour as a call to do more and pledged to continue to support Isuofia women in every move that is aimed at making the association and the town better.

 

The governor’s wife also touched on the importance of healthy living, urging the women to look after their health, to be cautious of what they eat, and to engage more in physical fitness.

Earlier in her opening remark, the President of the association Mrs. Obiageli Akposionu, an engineer said that the Akwaugo Isuofia title reflects the governor’s wife’s position of excellence and passion for issues that concern women.

 

The Chairman on the occasion, Chief Patrick Ndubisi and a renowned entrepreneur, Dr. Godwin Okafor, commended Isuofia women for thinking in the direction of agriculture with the launching of funds for garri processing plant, and also urged them to take the health teachings seriously.

There were also recognitions of other women who have played a key role in the development activities of the association.

The Member Representing Aguata Federal Constituency, Engineer Dom Okafor, member representing Aguata Constituency Two in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Tony Muobike, the Anambra State Woman Leader of APGA, Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, community heads, among others, attended the event.
